How to Play

  • Ski Mode: Use arrow keys or WASD to ski across the slope and assess conditions
  • Snow Probe: Click to probe the snowpack and reveal weak layers
  • Place Explosive: Click to place charges on unstable areas
  • Detonate: Trigger all placed explosives to release slab avalanches
  • Watch for weak layers (faceted crystals, depth hoar) that create instability
  • Avalanches propagate as slab fractures - the slab breaks away from the weak layer
  • Weather affects stability: new snow adds load, wind creates slabs, warm temps weaken bonds

Physics: Real avalanche control uses similar methods - ski patrols throw explosives to trigger controlled slides before the public arrives. Weak layers form from temperature gradients creating faceted snow crystals.
