How to Play

  • Place coral polyps by clicking on the substrate (seafloor) or existing coral
  • Different coral types have different growth patterns and environmental needs:
    • Branching: Fast vertical growth, fragile in high current
    • Brain: Dense, slow-growing, tolerates low flow and shade
    • Sea Fan: Grows perpendicular to current to filter plankton
    • Table: Wide horizontal spread to maximize light capture
  • Balance growth - top-heavy corals can break under their own weight or storm waves
  • Current flow affects which growth forms thrive and how nutrients spread
  • Light is required for photosynthesis (zooxanthellae) - deeper/shaded areas grow slower
  • Watch out for storms - high currents can break fragile branches!

Based on differential growth algorithms and real coral morphology - coral forms adapt to water flow patterns and light availability through calcium carbonate skeleton deposition.
